My MacIntosh does not recognize SIT or DMG files. What should I do?

How do I mport my recovered pictures into iPhoto?

  • Start PhotoRescue.
  • Press "OK" to close the introductory message. Your drive should be automatically selected. Make sure it corresponds to your real photo media, by comparing their size.
  • Press "OK" to start the recovery.
  • When the analysis is finished, press "Continue". At this time you should see your photos as thumbnails. Select all recovered files via the "Edit/Select All" menu, or simply press COMMAND+a.
    To save them on your hard drive, just run "Edit/Save", or press COMMAND+s. A dialog box should appear, asking you where you would like to save the files.
  • Press "New Folder", and pick a new folder name. Make sure to choose a name you will remember. For instance, a meaningful name can be "Recovered pictures".
  • Press "Create" in order to make the new folder. It will be automatically selected as destination.
  • Press "Choose" to start the copy process. You should see a message when it has been finished.
    You can now close PhotoRescue.
  • Start iPhoto.
  • Choose the "Import" option from the "File" menu.
  • Now it's time to find the folder we just created in step 8. It should be located in the "Documents" folder.
  • Select it and then press "Import". Just wait a few seconds, while iPhoto is loading your pictures. Once it has been finished, you should see your pictures.
